I have come to U of A to work toward my Master’s degree in Art and Visual Culture Education. I received my bachelor’s degree in Art History with a minor in studio art from Northern Arizona University in 2005 and have decided now that I want to use my knowledge and skills to teach art. I genuinely believe in the significance and power that art can have in the lives of children and young adults; through creating and learning about it’s historical, cultural, and political value. Art truly transcends every discipline and therefore I believe is one of the most important subjects. My wish for the future is that I can be a part of making it a more dominant subject in the schools and classrooms. In my personal artwork, my mediums of choice are charcoal, pastels, and oil paints. I also am a jewelry artist and work with textiles. For me, creating art is a form of therapy and a place where I find true joy.
