Date with Death won Best Animated Short at the Peoria Film Festival! Watch it in Gallery 1!

Hi, I’m Claire Corcoran. As you look through this portfolio, consider the link between visual arts and storytelling. That’s what I try to do. There, now you know my philosophy. You can look at the pictures now, but if you like reading, here is some more in-depth info:

Even a single still image captures a moment and invites the viewer to imagine what led up to it, who the characters are, and what will happen to them next.
This is the approach I have always taken to art, and I started studying with the idea that I wanted to do animation. By a roundabout route I got into the media arts program, which is my second major. I immediately jumped into the more traditional story-telling format of film. This is where my true interest lies, but I still like art. Since being accepted into the BFA program in media arts, I have begun to explore animation, coming up with my own techniques to construct stop-motion puppets, moving backgrounds, and other creations.

Keep checking back, since I often update this portfolio as my projects evolve. The structure of the portfolio is this: gallery 1 has finished projects and film stills, and gallery 2 has sketches and/or production stills from current projects. These change often. At the bottom of this text, I will announce changes as they occur.
