RENEE GONZALEZ
Renee Gonzalez

Biography
Renee Gonzalez was born in 1987 in Nogales, Sonora Mexico and grew up in the small border town of Nogales, Arizona. Because of this unique upbringing much of her work deals with the obscurity of national identity created from growing up in a border town. She was an aspiring natural and scientific illustrator and as a result, most of her artwork centers around the aspects of the natural world.

Artist Statement
Since an early age I have used art to convey my own interpretation and understanding of what I was viewing and experiencing. My art and what I start producing is usually in direct correlation to personal events and my emotional state of being. I work with graphite, pastels, pen and ink, and scratchboard. My illustrations are usually highly detailed, and range from highly polished and rendered to very active and sketchy.
