Nostalgia is a representation of the simple pleasures in life, which can lead to the deepest emotional and spiritual connections to the world around us. Majestic mountain landscapes and vast desert valleys that I have seen signify the progress of earth and splendor of our natural world, which may often go unnoticed, but compel me to be grateful to live amongst it. Breathing in crisp air of the mountains, walking among the lush vegetation of the forests, and being surrounded by Mother Nature’s beauty inspire the landscapes and earthy subjects of my paintings.
I create art as a means of viewing the world through optimistic eyes. Nostalgic subjects from my past, such as cultural subjects and familiar landscapes are only depicted in a charming, upbeat manner, and void of any negative truths. Bright color palettes and idyllic scenes represent my desire to return to a former time in life, because I often consider the grass greener in the memories of past experiences than today. Constant layering of paint and fleeting brushwork are used to create the most accurate vision of these desirous, and somewhat fabricated themes of nostalgia that are conjured in my mind.
