My art is a form of cathartic expungement of anxieties resulting from the ideologies imposed by the mass media. It is the reflection/refraction of every form of media I have been exposed to throughout my life. It is my personal obligation to re-define/express these imposed ideologies by transfiguring ingested mass media through a process of digestion, fermentation and finally excretion into a new form of media. The subject matter I prefer to explore is often of a socio-political observational/commentary nature because these are the kinds of ideas that take up residence in my mind. Painting is the medium through which I can express myself with the least reservation. I generally prefer to paint with acrylics and/or housepaint because their quick drying time allows me to work as fast as my impulses dictate. I employ line to tighten the forms of my compositions and to bring them to a cartoonized childish state that helps break down the viewers’ preconceptions of the subject matter I am addressing. Imbedded in these seemingly innocent doodles is the taint of an adult agenda, just like every other form of media. My recent ventures into the realm of printmaking have allowed me to further explore the limitless vocabulary of line.
