My work over the past five years has re-examined and questioned feminine gender roles and clichéd stereotypes within our culture by drawing from both personal experiences and the reactions to the media saturated, and fast paced, competitive society in which we live. The work I create questions the contradicting values and social dilemmas that we face within our culture and our personal lives. As I begin my studies as a graduate student in art education, my goal is to not only apply these themes to my work as an artist but to also use them as a basis in my teaching and research practice.
