A recent graduate of the UofA with a BFA in photography has left me kind of at a loss of where to go next. I got my first professional job in my field in June 2007 at Rembrandt Photography. This has left me with a great opportunity to continue my education in the real world scenario of photography. I have been able to explore portraiture in a different way although has left me unable to work on my own work as much as I’d like to. In trying to keep my creative juices flowing I have been taking a more photo journalistic technique at shooting as of lately. This has allowed me to find beauty and uniqueness in my real life situations. Also by altering these images in photoshop I have also gained more creativity that I hadn’t explored before.
In the past a lot of my work has dealt with insecurities and identity issues often portrayed through different portraiture situations. This is something that has very strongly affected my life. Being an identical twin has left me striving to discover who I am, outside of being part of a set which is why I often find myself going back to this kind of subject. I also am very intrigued with nontraditional portraiture and finding uniqueness in the often thought of ordinary.
