My art teaching philosophy objectives are first, I would like to allow young student artists to believe they can create art works with their many talents, ideas, problem solving skills and imagination. Second, I want to promote learning of the local and global issues they can relate to and connect with. Third, I would like to provide an aesthetic, inviting classroom atmosphere for all.
I will give students opportunities to express themselves to realize their unique ‘inner artist’ by providing the various tools and materials to experiment with, express ideas and languages. I want students to understand the world outside of the classroom by teaching them about local and global cultures and how those can best be learned expressed in art. I plan to create for students an effective teaching environment that serves as another teacher in the classroom by providing ample space, light, supplies and materials in an aesthetically pleasing arrangement that relates more to a comfortable atmosphere.
It is important that students have a healthy attitude and confidence that they can create things in art with their many abilities to express their personality and language through opportunities. Students can and should learn about their world outside of the classroom and try to contribute to the good of society in some way through art expression. Students have a right to live and thrive in an aesthetic and inviting art making environment. They can best learn in a supportive place where they can interact positively with peers and teachers, having a sense of security and positive relationships.
