Statement Fall 2006

I work in an abstract, physiological, psychological, and spiritual language that creates a sense of place. I make the work because I have to, I am constantly in the process of distilling information into images that relate to my . It is through this idea of chronicling thoughts that I access a sense of history and emotion that exists deep with inside me.

The act of making art for me, is a spiritual event and is therefore a central part of my life. It at times is a confusing language, much like a person’s relationship to God and takes a certain amount of decrement while I am in process. I have found that as I spend time with my images I experience these beautiful meditative moments that often in today’s society are lost, this sense of lose relates to each individual’s personal spiritual life in our fast paced world. Regardless of someone’s personal spiritual beliefs I feel that this language lives at the core of everyone, it is just that we each find our own ways of expressing and it is through my art that I find physical evidence of my ever evolving spiritual journey.
