Holly grew up in Butler, Pennsylvania, a small suburb north of Pittsburgh. She graduated from Butler High School in May of 2002. She went on to attend Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA, where she received her B.A. degree in Art History and English, with a minor in Studio Arts. During her time at Juniata Holly was a writer, editor and photographer for the college newspaper. She worked as a student photographer for the Marketing Department, and organized 4 campus exhibits as president of the Art Alliance club in her senior year. Holly studied abroad in Aberystwyth, Wales in the fall of 2004, after doing an internship at the University of Maine Museum of Art that summer. She was a member of Sigma Tau Delta, the National English Honors Society, and Omicron Kappa Delta, a National Leadership Society. Upon graduation she received the Vila Gardner Metzger Art Award for achievement in the studio arts.
After receiving her degree, Holly moved to Tucson, where she worked for the University of Arizona Museum of Art. She worked under an IMLS grant focused on digitally cataloging and organizing the UAMA Collection. She began attending the UA as a graduate student in August of 2007. Currently, she is a Teaching Assistant for an undergraduate art class and works at the Student Union Gallery as an assistant.
